Package Roof-Top Air Conditioning Unit (RTU)

An RTU transfers air via the vapor-compression cycle in a unitary system. Conditioning includes heating, filtration, humidification and dehumidification. Units are available in constant and variable airflow configurations. 

Condenser Fan: The condenser fan circulates air through a condenser coil.

Condenser Fan Motor: The condenser fan motor rotates the condenser fan.

Condenser Coil: The condenser coil removes heat from a refrigerant, causing the vapor refrigerant to condense.

Controls: Safety and temperature controls help properly operate the machine.

Compressor: The compressor moves refrigerant throughout the system. It also compresses refrigerant gas to create a pressure difference between the evaporator and condenser, which enables the transfer of heat from a cooler system (chilled water) to a warmer system (condenser water).

Supply Fan: The supply fan circulates air through cooling and/or heating coils to the distribution system.

Supply Fan Motor: The supply fan motor rotates the supply fan.

Evaporator Coil: The evaporator coil transfers heat from the air to the refrigerant.

Heating Coil/Element: The heating coil transfers heat from the heating medium to the air.

Return Air Dampers: Return air dampers regulate the quantity of return air entering the unit.

Return Air Fan: The return air fan circulates return air from the building back into the unit.

Return Air Fan Motor: The return air fan motor rotates the return air fan.

Exhaust Air Dampers and Actuator: The exhaust air dampers and actuator offer outlets where air can be removed from the building.

Filters: Filters clean the air before it enters the distribution system.

Outside Air Dampers: Outside air dampers regulate the amount of outside air entering the unit.
