Reciprocating Compressor

Reciprocating Compressor

Reciprocating compressors are used in chillers and packaged units. This positive displacement compressor uses a piston — driven by a crankshaft — to compress refrigerant. It is available with an electric motor in three types of enclosures: hermetic, semi-hermetic and open.

Motor: The motor rotates the compressor crankshaft.

Compressor: Compressor: The compressor circulates refrigerant through the system. It then compresses refrigerant gas to create a pressure difference between the evaporator and condenser. This enables the transfer of heat from a cooler system (chilled water) to a warmer system (condenser water).
